Quick paintup for the Sarge. For those asking about the pencil, I had scanned the original sketch and then duplicated it, put it on top as a multiply layer and blurred it. That gave me a softer feel. So any lines I left in would more easily jive with the painting.

simply fantastic!!
Another great one Mark! I really need to paint more.
I love everything about this painting. Great work!
Great blog Mark... found it through a comment you made on Ev's place. Nice work.
Very cool to see Sgt. Rock painted :) Interesting tip about blurring the pencil lines. I've been colouring lines lately before turning them into a multiply layer in an effort to make them fit better. I'll have to give that a try too.
Nice painting, Mark, I like the palette you used for this one.
Hi Mark, I didn't know you had a sketchblog but I'm really glad you do. Your paintings are extraordinary, and I hope its cool if I link to your blog. Have a good one and take care!
Man i love how moody your work is!!!
Wow! Your use of value is amazing. I have learned a lot from looking at your work. Very inspiring...
Hello Mark! I'm so glad I found your site as well! You are absolutely an inspiration to us artists/animators! I love that as perfect as your paintings are, your ideas seem light and playful. You thought of something and you painted it and it's breathtaking.. wow!
Very cool new work. This one is really great.
awesome character painting!! Love the color and vintage toon style touch!
Really sharp! The glint of fire in the background and the spattered blood on the helmet and cheek are perfect touches! Love your stuff on Drawergeeks too!
This one sort of epitomizes what I love about your stuff. Nice attention to graphic shapes in the drawing, and painted with just as much attention to values and colour, while still retaining the life and character of the thing. Keep posting, man!
Fantastic work, great character to this dude !
This interpretation of Sgt. Rock is great! I found this image by accident, doing google searches for Sgt. Rock art...
It falls right in line stylewise with a 3D project I'm cooking up!
Very cool!
